Free Thanksgiving Dinner

This year will be the twenty-fifth year for the Free Thanksgiving Dinner. This is a free Thanksgiving meal for anyone alone, elderly, home bound, or in need on the holiday. Meals are also delivered to police and fire personnel in Olmsted Falls, Olmsted Township, and Berea, Ohio as a thank you for working to keep us safe on the holiday.

We are continuing the this traditional meal. Although the founder of the meal is no longer with us, we're carrying on in his memory.

We make everything as special as any family's holiday meal. Five hundred pounds of potatoes are peeled and mashed, forty-two turkeys are roasted, thirty pumpkins are cooked down to make into pies, and sixty loaves of bread are baked. This homemade Thanksgiving Day meal is held at Olmsted Community Church on Thanksgiving day.

Every year we are able to serve over one thousand meals for those in need in our community. Our goal is to provide not only a homemade meal, but a place people can come together. This event requires about 60-75 volunteers to cook, clean, serve, and deliver. In order to keep this community-responsive project going we rely on the generosity of these volunteers as well as donations of food and funds.

We're grateful for all the volunteers who help make this happen. Still, each year most of the cost rests on our shoulders. We are dedicated to continuing this tradition but looking to ease the financial burden of making this special meal. Please help us give thanks by giving to others.

We would like to thank all those who came out in support of our 2nd Annual Give Thanks Fundraiser and those who made it possible with their donations. It was a big success!
